Central East Portland Rotary Club along with other local Rotary Clubs is raising $49,000 to build, equip, and furnish supplies for a new Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit for just born babies in Bangalore, India.
Central East Rotary found a need for playing a critical role in reducing the infant mortality rate in poor urban populations in India.
Our local Rotary Clubs will team with the Bangalore Rotary District to provide excellent health care to the needy at affordable prices. The Neo NICU will be placed in the Bangalore Memorial Hospital, which is a state of the art medical center established in 2007, by leading doctors in Bangalore. The Memorial Hospital is currently a 100 bed hospital.
A team of Rotarians from Oregon and Washington will visit Bangalore, India early in 2011, and will visit the Hospital to evaluate the project, and speed its completion.
Projects like these make all of us feel great about being a Rotarian, and making a difference in the World.
